Since placed in service – 170 world records were established on the territory of the complex of Medeo.

This is one of the favorite places of citizens and guests of the city. The ice rink was built in 1972 in a picturesque gorge 16 km away from Almaty. Mild climate, optimal level of solar radiation, low pressure, windless weather and ice from the purest spring water make Medeo one of the best world rinks and thanks to its location possibly the most beautiful place. The ice field is the best place for open international competitions in speed skating on ice skating, hockey, and figure skating. Over 120 world records are established here by the strongest skaters in the world. The skating rink is available within the season from November to March.

The attention of tourists is also attracted by the dam that was erected in the valley of Malaya Almatinka to protect the city from the mud. It was this dam that saved the city from the deadly mudflow in 1973.
We advise you to climb the dam on 830 steps. From there, a magnificent panorama opens up to the mountain peaks of Zailiysky Alatau.

You can take for rent the skates in the store Extremal, located at Manas 51 when you wish to go on a skating rink. There are always sharpened skates in good condition of Czech production.
